Education Workforce Council Code of Professional Conduct and Practice
We responded to EWC’s consultation on a revised draft of their Code of Professional Conduct and Practice.
In our response we focused on the experiences and observations we can offer within our regulatory scope (equivalent to EWC’s registrant groups of school teacher and further education lecturer). EWC is required to register 13 workforce groups.
In its revised draft Code of Professional Conduct and Practice, EWC has added a key principal about leadership. We agreed that this inclusion is appropriate and relevant, saying “Although we do not include specific language about leadership in our code, the Professional Standards all include leadership as a central underpinning theme on the basis that all teachers require leadership skills to lead learning, and also to work with and support the development of colleagues and other partners.”
