About the programme

Lead On is a self-directed, blended learning programme that aims to develop reflection and understanding of leadership skills and qualities. In addition to self-reflection and group discussion facilitated through a range of activities on eight taught sessions, set reading and reflective learning logs are used throughout the programme, to record personal reflection and learning in between the taught sessions. Participants are also supported to engage in an action-learning change initiative in their own school, setting or team, that will provide the vehicle through which they can practice their developing leadership skills and use these in their daily lives.

Lead On aims to equip staff at all levels with the tools to understand change and to engage positively with this at the front line of their organisations/schools. Lead On reinforces the need, as detailed in CLPL standard 3.3.2, for teachers to ‘Engage in reflective practice to develop and advance career-long professional learning and expertise’. However the programme is also open to wider groups of staff who work across education and others within children’s services in Highland. This provides a broader context for learning for teaching staff, engaging with different perspectives and allowing reflection of how their own practice may be enhanced through reflecting on and with others.
