I would like to know how many UWA [sic] BA students, who graduated in June 24, were placed in each local authority for their probation year.

Response

I refer to your request for information dated 2August 2024 (FOI 24-25/31) in which you asked for “how many UWA [sic] BA students, who graduated in June 24, were placed in each local authority for their probation year.”

We have interpreted your request to be for the number of provisionally registered teachers who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in the Primary Education programme at the University of West of Scotland (UWS) in June 2024 and were allocated to a local authority under the Teacher Induction Scheme (TIS) for the 2024/25 registration year.

I have provided this information within this response as data extracted on 8 August 2024. Please note that these figures are subject to change over time due to the addition or amendment of placements by local authorities.

The number of individuals who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in June 2024 from the University of the West of Scotland who were allocated to each local authority under the Teacher Induction Scheme for the 2024/25 registration year as data extracted on 8 August 2024:

  • Renfrewshire: <5
  • South Ayrshire: 9

You will see that I have not provided the exact number in some instances above as disclosing this could enable individuals to be identified. This would breach the data protection principles set out in data protection legislation. FOISA does not require us to provide this sort of information as it is exempt under section 38(1)(b).

You may contact informationgovernance@gtcs.org.uk if you are dissatisfied with this response, to request GTC Scotland conduct a review of it.
