How many secondary schools teachers are dual qualified in Mathematics and History? As in, how many teachers in Scotland are registered to teach both Mathematics and History.

Response

I refer to your request for information dated 13 January 2025 (FOI 24-25/84) in which you asked "how many teachers in Scotland are registered to teach both Mathematics and History” which we have handled under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act.

By way of advice and assistance, please note that GTC Scotland operates a professional Register and not an employment based one. This means that all individuals who meet our registration requirements can be registered with us without being actively employed as a teacher or living in Scotland.

From data extracted on 16 January 2025, the number of registrants who have either Full or Provisional Registration on the Register of Teachers with the registration category of Secondary - History and Secondary - Mathematics is shown in Table 1 below.

Table 1: The Full and Provisional Registration of registrants with the Secondary– History and Secondary – Mathematics registration category as data extracted on 16 January 2025

You may contact informationgovernance@gtcs.org.uk if you are dissatisfied with this response, to request GTC Scotland conduct a review of it. When the review process has been completed, if you are still dissatisfied, you may use the Scottish Information Commissioner’s guidance on making an appeal to do so.
