Registrants linked with a local authority should have their request to bring forward the Professional Update sign off year come from them.  

If you have a reviewer associated with your MyGTCS/MyPL account, you can request that your sign-off is brought forward.  

If you don’t have a reviewer, please ask your headteacher/line manager to submit a Contact Form with your name and six digit GTC Scotland Registration Number and a brief explanation as to why they are confirming your bring forward request.

There may be circumstances in which you wish to bring forward the sign-off of your PU before your scheduled PU year. For example, if you are planning to take an extended period of leave.  

You can submit a request to bring forward your Professional Update (PU) sign off in MyGTCS, by using the ‘Bring forward Professional Update year’ form.  

You can request to bring forward your PU sign-off at any time.    

You will be asked to include the reason you wish to bring forward your PU year when submitting the form.

  • If we have validated your current employer as a provider for PU, you must have created an association with your PU reviewer in MyGTCS before submitting the form.  
  • If we have not validated your current employer as a provider for PU, you can still submit the request using the form in MyGTCS but we will ask you to declare that this is the reason you do not have an associated PU reviewer. If you are not sure, please check with your employer.
