New platform: guidance for provisional registrants
GTC Scotland will launch a new MyGTCS platform in August 2025 to all provisionally registered teachers and their supporters. This will be followed by a rollout to all teachers from January 2026.
The new platform will replace the electronic and paper-based profiles used for the Teacher Induction Scheme (TIS) and Flexible Route (FR). From August, all provisionally registered teachers will have the same induction recording experience, and those who support them will only need to use one system.
The new platform will provide provisionally registered teachers with a simplified method of recording their progress as they work towards full registration.
They will:
- reflect and plan, recording their progress in MyGTCS
- decide who they share their reflections and progress with
- link with their supporters
- ensure they receive the feedback they need to successfully achieve full registration
- continue to meet existing requirements and expectations of the induction experience.
New provisionally registered teachers
The platform will be available to provisionally registered teachers on the Teacher Induction Scheme, Flexible Route and to fully registered teachers who are completing additional professional registration to add a category to their existing registration.
Initial Teacher Education (ITE) students will be introduced to the new platform through their finishing talk this academic session. They will continue to use the ITE profile, which is remaining as it is.
Once they are successfully provisionally registered, we will send instructions on how to login to MyGTCS to the email address newly provisionally registered teachers used for the GTC Scotland student portal.
Continuing provisionally registered teachers
Flexible Route, TIS extensions and deferrals
Existing provisionally registered teachers who are completing their induction via the Flexible Route, TIS extensions and TIS deferrals will be transferred over to the new platform.
There will be a short period of migration between the old and new platforms, during which continuing provisionally registered teachers will be unable to upload new records. This will take place during the summer break and we will let teachers know the dates of this migration in advance.
We will send instructions on how to log in to the new platform to the email address currently registered on provisionally registered teachers’ MyGTCS account. Please ensure your email is up to date.
Provisionally registered teachers do not need to do anything in advance of being transferred to the new platform, and can continue to record their progress towards meeting the Standard for Full Registration as normal. We will transfer records over to the new platform ahead of launch.
Flexible Route
Provisionally registered teachers who are currently on the Flexible Route will be given full access to the new platform. They will have equity of access. This is in response to feedback and evidence.
Provisionally registered teachers will be able to upload existing paper-based profiles to the new digital profile. This will then be viewable by reviewers when the provisionally registered teacher requests recommendation. We don’t expect Flexible Route provisionally registered teachers to manually transfer any data from the paper-based profile into the new profile system.
Provisionally registered teachers on the Flexible Route who work across multiple schools will be able to invite multiple supporters to view their provisional profiles.
Learning how to use the new MyGTCS platform
We have designed the new platform to be intuitive and easy to use.
It will include a help area. This will be available any time registrants need to learn more about the platform, or refresh their knowledge.
Our customer and digital support teams will also be there to support with any queries about using the new platform.
