GTC Scotland publishes ethics guide supporting teachers to speak up when something isn't right

GTC Scotland has published Ethics in Teaching: Speaking Up Guide for Teaching Professionals. The guide aims to promote and build confidence among teachers and college lecturers to address professional challenges, this includes having the professional courage to speak up when they have concerns. 

The guide has dedicated sections on speaking up to protect the rights of children and young people and speaking up about workplace issues. It references the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Equality Act 2010, Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) and employer policies. 

The guide includes self-reflective questions along with additional resources. It was written with the help of teachers, college lecturers and other education professionals.
