GTC Scotland response to Learning Disabilities, Autism and Neurodivergence Bill consultation

GTC Scotland responded to the Scottish Government's recent consultation on the Learning Disabilities, Autism and Neurodivergence Bill.

Our response focused on sections 11 (restraint and seclusion) and 13 (education).

We clarified our role in relation to accrediting programmes of initial teacher education (ITE) and setting the entry requirements, highlighting how ITE prepares students to meet the Standard for Provisional Registration and the importance of a supported entry to the profession. We also outlined the need to consider professional learning as an ongoing process with sufficient time and space for self-reflection and development.
