To improve users’ experience, and bring our digital services up to date, we are introducing a new platform which will host MyGTCS, provisional registration profiles and MyPL.

This new MyGTCS platform will roll out in two stages, firstly in August 2025 to all provisionally registered teachers and their supporters. Then to all teachers from January 2026.

Why is GTC Scotland launching a new MyGTCS?

Our digital services are now dated with usability issues which result in frustrations for registrants. The new MyGTCS will help to transform how registrants use our digital services by streamlining multiple platforms into one, creating a more consistent experience, simplifying the processes registrants need to complete and reducing bureaucracy.

We have procured an expert digital supplier as our partner to deliver this work with experience in building platforms for other regulators. This will help us to meet the aim from our Digital Strategy to ensure that our digital transformation is user-centred and that we place the needs and inclusion of all our users at the heart of all digital service design.

The new MyGTCS will:

  • Be used by teachers across the whole registrant journey: taking them from provisional registration to full registration, through Professional Update, and as they take on roles as supporters, reviewers and observers, all on one universal platform
  • Be usable across multiple devices including mobile phones
  • Be easy to navigate
  • Have simplified processes for sharing information from profiles and sign-off
  • Be built to accommodate future development in response to feedback and emerging user needs

By better supporting the process of meeting and maintaining teaching standards through the new MyGTCS platform, we want to enhance the value of registrants’ digital interactions with us and embed our vision of trusted teaching.

Engagement and feedback

The development of this new platform is informed by both formal and informal engagement with and feedback from teachers, including provisionally registered teachers and their supporters. We held service design workshops and interviews to inform the design of the new platform, and ensure that it better meets registrants’ needs.

Provisionally registered teachers and their supporters do not need to do anything at this stage. More information on the roll out of the new platform is available at the links below.

If you have any questions about the new MyGTCS and its rollout that you feel are not yet covered through these webpages, please use the feedback form. We will update the webpages appropriately and share them in future updates.

The Teacher Induction Scheme

The structure of the Teacher Induction Scheme has not changed and it remains a Scottish Government funded and owned scheme, supported by GTC Scotland’s administration of some aspects.

The Teacher Induction Scheme is intended to provide a high-quality induction into the profession, preparing teachers to achieve the Standard for Full Registration. Provisionally registered teachers will continue to be expected to achieve the Standard for Full Registration and to meet the minimum requirements for their profiles.

Second phase of MyGTCS rollout

We will move all registrants over to the new MyGTCS platform from January 2026.

This staged launch will allow us to respond to feedback on the new platform and ensure the best experience for users. MyGTCS will continue to develop over time to better meet registrants’ needs.

The new MyGTCS platform will incorporate the existing MyPL functions, and existing professional learning records will be transferred there.

Please ensure that your contact details are up to date to support this process. You do not need to do anything else now to prepare for the transfer.

Fully registered teachers can continue to use the existing MyGTCS and MyPL as usual to record their learning until they have been transitioned to the new platform.

Registrants can submit their Professional Update for sign-off at any point during their sign-off year.
