Upcoming improvements to MyPL

In 2024, we will be making key changes to MyPL aimed at improving the platform and your experience using it. The most recent updates included:

  • A reduction of the amount of entry fields in the Professional Learning (PL) area, to make the process of uploading PL entries quicker and easier.  
  • A new ‘PL archived entries’ are, where you can save your PL entries from previous years.

Further improvements are planned for both late July and September 2024. The Professional Review and Development area of MyPL will be updated on 31 July. The improvements scheduled for 4 September will involve the below sections of MyPL:

  • Areas for Development
  • Employment and Qualifications
  • Resources
  • Files
  • Calendar

If you wish to maintain a record of Areas for Development plotted on the slider, instead of the table, or information saved in the Employment and Qualifications area, we recommend you take a screengrab before the update to these areas scheduled for September. Find more information on these updates below.

July improvements

Professional Review and Development

The number of entry fields required to enter a Professional Review and Development (PRD) record will be reduced, in order to simplify the process of logging PRD entries.

Any information you have previously entered in PRDs will be migrated to the ‘Notes’ field.

September improvements

Areas for Development

New Areas for Development table

The Areas for Development (AfD) sliders are being replaced with a table, similar to those in the other areas of MyPL. This is to simplify the process of logging entries, making it quicker to complete.

The table allows you to view each AfD entry, the target date, and select any for further actions e.g. if you want to delete or download a specific entry.  

If you wish to maintain your own record of these AfD entries plotted on the progress slider, we recommend you take a screengrab before the update in September.  

Reduction of entry fields

The entry fields for adding an AfD have also been simplified, and an additional ‘Reflection on what you hope to achieve’ field has been added. Any AfD notes previously entered as a ‘Description’ or ‘Reflection and Impact’ will have been migrated to the new ‘Optional notes’ field.

Please note, Areas for Development entries and Professional Learning entries can no longer be linked. This is not a requirement of the Professional Update.

Employment and Qualifications

The employment and qualifications area currently allows you to view any record you have input of your employment history, teaching and any other qualifications. This area will be removed from MyPL, but you will still be able to view your current employment and teaching qualifications/professional awards on MyGTCS. This update is scheduled for late September.  

We recommend you save any necessary data from the Employment and Other Qualifications area on MyPL before the removal in September. This can be done by taking a screengrab of the page.

Resources

The resources area is being removed from MyPL. You can find the resources under the MyGTCS research area. This is to allow all teachers access to the resources, even if you are not fully registered and do not have access to MyPL.

My Files

Currently, any uploaded files on MyPL can be found in the Resources area. They will be moved to a new My Files area in MyPL, which can be found using the left hand-side navigation bar. You will be able to find any uploaded files attached to PL, AfD and PRD entries using the table.

Calendar

The link to the calendar is being removed from the MyPL area. This function is not linked to the PU process.
